Yay!

Ok I’m probably jinxing myself by saying this… but we might just have managed to start the 4-hourly routine instead of 3-hourly with the feeding!
Last night Max fed at 7pm, 11pm, 3am, 7am, and again at 11am this morning… please let this continue!!

DH did the 11pm,3am and 7am feeds soI got a bit of a break, although he did keep falling asleep when Max began fussing and so I had to keep kicking him to wake up and see to him… bloody lucky men able to sleep through all the grunting and snuffling!!

Have also managed to get both of the boys down for a nap at the same time together… that’s 4 days in a row, woot!

J is attempting to sort out our spare (read junk) room atm, which means he’s moving around the junk to different areas around the house… typical! At least he’s doing something useful, I shouldn’t be complaining really… I just can’t seem to help myself can I?

The Weigh In

So Max is 4 weeks and 1 day old now and was weighed this morning. He is now a chubby 10lb 1oz in weight.

I can’t believe he’s 4 weeks old already - WHERE has the time gone?? Thank god we’re starting to get a routine going otherwise I’d be tearing my hair out by now. Writing this during ‘nap time’ in case you hadn’t guessed… wait, no one reads this so who are you?

He hates baths but loves having his tummy rubbed (so does his daddy… weirdos!). He hates being left on his own but doesn’t *have* to be held anymore to stop him crying, he’s quite happy to have me sitting next to him making silly faces.

Ooooh and… the wee munchkin has started the beginnings of the gummy grins! Although in this case his is already a toothy grin, did i mention he was BORN with a tooth? Thank god for formula that’s all I’m gonna say!

He’s also started ‘talking’ to me, if i say something to him and then wait a bit, he’ll start to kick his legs and arms about and is making lil gurgles and cooing sounds, I’d totally forgotten about them, it totally makes me melt )

I decided to make a specific blog just for my wow chatter, as it just doesnt really fit into this blog, so we shall see how it goes…

Today’s Routine

Author: Marylin | Filed under: Max, baby stuff Wednesday Nov 7,2007

Again just for my own benefit to have this written down, today’s feeds were as follows:

* 2.5oz at 2am
* 3oz at 6am
* 3oz at 9am
* 3oz at 11.30am
* 2.5oz at 2.15pm
* 3oz at 5.30pm

still another feed to go, probably within the next hour… we shall have to wait and see how it goes.

On the whole though today’s been great, Max has been really alert and happy (well, as happy as a newborn can be. Maybe contented is a better word?) all day long as has Zack, I can easily say I’ve had one of the best days since J’s been back at work.

I hope to try to carry on this semi-routine we’ve got going at the moment, especially the naptime during the day… god that was bliss!

I never did manage to get on wow earlier though… keep thinking about it but then other things come up!

Ahh Where to Start?

As this is really just here for me I’m not going to bother with too much background, there’s an about me page for that.

This blog is for me to keep a little bit of sanity in my stupidly hectic life as a stay at home mum. So here’s the first bit of information I need somewhere to record.

Max is now 3 weeks and 5 days old and I think we’re slowly getting into some sort of routine with his feeding.

The last 24hrs went like this:

* 3.5oz at 9pm
* 3oz at 12.30am
* 3oz at 4am
* 3.5oz at 8am
* 3oz at 12pm
* 2.5oz at 2.30pm
* 3oz at 5.30pm
* 4oz at 9.30pm

I really would like to get him having a last feed at around 11.30pm but so far he’s just not been willing to take anything if I try a dream feed then, so I’m not sure what to do about that one, just need to shift his feeds back a bit but that’s easier said than done.

John had today off so we went to do our weekly shop this morning with kids in tow. I’ve gotta admit Zack was really well behaved the whole time we were out - if only he could be like that all the time, but for the moment if he’s an angel when we’re out and awkward when we’re at home it’s not so bad. Better that than the other way around that’s for sure.

There’s just one problem with our local supermarket and that’s the store next door - PC World… it’s literally almost impossible to go shopping without having a look in. So there we are, John and I, drooling over the iMac’s. Unfortunately we just can’t afford anything like that at the moment with Christmas around the corner and a fair amount of debt that we’re currently trying to clear, hopefully by this time next year.

So, we managed to do the food shopping without having bought anything from next door, Max slept the whole time and the second we step into the taxi he starts screaming his lil head off. The poor driver must have been so glad to get rid of us!

Zack went for his nap, J fed Max and I thought about sitting on my laptop with my feet up relaxing, and then stumbled on top of our ever-growing laundry pile, walked into the kitchen and started the chores for the day. By the time I’d sorted out the house to be in a condition that was livable guess who woke up from his nap… yup, hello Zack bye bye ‘me time’ for today!

I had bath with Zack this evening for the first time since Max was born. It was so cute, Zack was asking what happened to my tummy, ahh. If only it snapped back to something at least semi-normal looking, but no I’m not that lucky. I’m going to have to put a lot of work in to get something that’s just partly toned, just not a clue how i’m ever going to find the time to do it.

I suppose I should probably go to bed while it’s early, otherwise it gets later and then i decide not to bother going to bed til i’ve fed Max, and that always ends in in extremely grumpy person in the morning.

Woohoo i actually managed to sit down for long enough to finish this in one go! This is the life… well, it’s my life at least, and to be honest I wouldn’t change it. Well, it’d be nice to get full nights of sleep again, but i know that’ll happen sooner or later.
