Speech Therapy Appointment #2

Today was Max’s second appointment, and he seemed to remember the room and toys, which was a great start.

He went straight to the random box that he knew had the cars in it – his favourite toy to play with at the moment. Picked them all out and particularly seemed to remember the police car and helicopter from last week. He definitely tried to say car (more like “cah” a few times while playing with them (yay Max!).

We played with a lil ‘jackinthebox’ style set of 4 little pop up farm animals joined together (yes my descriptive skills suck, I will take a photo next time!) which he really enjoyed playing with. He would take my hand and place it on the buttons to make me open them, and later on picked up the thing and pointed to the animals going “baah, boo (moo?) oiii (oink?)” etc so he’s pointing and labeling things. YAY Max again!

We used pictures of the toys to try to get him to connect them. I’m going to take some photos of his favourite toys for him and things like his dummy, milk, biscuits etc in the hopes that I can teach him to show me these things when he wants them, verbalising it for him as he does it. Time will tell.

Basically it’s still early days, but he’s doing great and I have a feeling this is really a good thing not just for him but for me too.

Also, BIG shout-out to my dad who was awesome and drove us there n back and took Zack to nursery and back today so we wouldn’t get soaked in the (omgsoheavy) rain that’s been around for the whole day!
